Elizabeth “Liz” Gemski has more than 20 years of experience in Federal and State Government Affairs working in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Liz’s career in Connecticut spans 11 years and in that time, she has attained numerous legislative accomplishments on behalf of her clients.
Liz brings to Kozak & Salina her knowledge of direct lobbying, policy and legislative analysis, media analysis, as well as coalition and partner development for health, human service, energy, business, and environmental clients. Liz is particularly skilled in developing and cultivating relationships with elected officials, high-level officials in the administration, and mid-level staff in state agencies to achieve her clients’ goals.
Prior to coming to Kozak & Salina, Liz worked for 10 years at Murtha Cullina LLP in the Government Affairs Group as a Government Affairs Consultant where she worked with a variety of clients. Previously, she served as State Vice President of Health and Advocacy Initiatives for the American Cancer Society in Rhode Island. There, she was responsible for state-level planning, implementation and evaluation of health initiatives and government affairs programs as the organization’s lead lobbyist.
Liz also served in various capacities on political campaigns, including as the Finance Director for the Campaign to Elect Matt Brown Secretary of State and Finance Assistant for Jack Reed for U.S. Senate. Liz started her career in Washington, DC as a lobbyist on the Federal level, advocating on behalf of clients in the health care sector.
Liz received her B.A. from Clark University and interned at the Office of Greville Janner, Queen’s Court, Member of Parliament in London, England. She currently serves on the Farmington Historic District Commission and lives in Farmington with her husband Philip and daughter Ella.
